Lesson 3: Behaviour Management Approaches

· Behaviour Management, Parents Exclusive

There are 2 types of behaviour management approaches a parent can adopt.

The Proactive Behaviour Management (PBM) or the Reactive Behaviour Management (RBM). This means you can use a planned approach or an unplanned approach in managing your children’s behaviour.

A planned approach is about having a strategy of how you intend to train your children on excellent behaviour and what will be the consequences for non- compliance. It’s like having a policy at home that every child knows and understands what the expected behaviour is.

This way you already have it all planned on what constitutes misbehaviour and the consequences. Consequently you are consistent in your approach. By adopting this style, challenging behaviour is met with a rational and not an emotional response. no-repeat;center top;; auto
