The daughter of a maid and barber/coalminer has proved to the world, what a girl with determination and lofty dreams can achieve. Currently one of the richest and most influential woman in the 20th century life had not always been rosy. She was raised by her grandmother who was very poor. But even as a child she was determined to have a bright future.
Her grandmother though poor knew how to raise a child. She taught Oprah to read and write and by the age of 3 she was ahead of her peers. She is well known as Director/Producer, Entrepreneur, Actor, Talk Show host and Philanthropist. Her appreciation and value for education is seen in how she directs her money. Most of her giving go to educational causes like supporting the program of charter schools in America and the Oprah’s Leadership Academy in South Africa. Oprah’s Network Angel (her charity) has helped to build 60 schools in 13 countries. This is a woman who knowns how to give back. Her current net worth is $3 billion still counting.
