Writing is a skill that needs to be practised. Some children require more practice while others don't. You can even attribute poor writing to lack of concentration. However when it persistently presents a problem then it is worth assessing if this is an indication of a learning difficulty. Do you have students who have poor legibility of handwriting? Are you concerned that they seem oblivious to the lines or margins? Do you find their slow speed and inconsistency in text size disturbing?
